The sons of Jaffna Hindu College shed all their differences and joined hands
in solidarity at the recently held AGM of the JHC Old Boys Association,
Jaffna. Once again they proved their ability for resilience in upholding the
interests of their mother JHC, albeit very tiring external environment.
The AGM was held on the 26th August 2007 in the Cumarasuwamy Hall
at 10.00 a.m. The meeting started right after the special ‘pooja’ at the
school Gnanavairavar Temple to invoke blessing on the school community.
Mr. V. Srisakthivel, the president of the outgoing committee presided the
meeting. Having thanked for the support rendered by the members during his
tenure of office, he reminded the members about the tremendous
responsibilities we have in a very difficult and adverse situation, which we
experience at present. He also emphasised the need for solidarity among us
to face the challenges.
The outgoing Secretary Mr. T Arunagirinathan, presented the minutes of the
previous AGM and the Annual Activity Report of the outgoing committee. The
Annual Financial Report presented by the Treasurer, Mr. M Sridharan,
followed this. The members accepted these reports with appropriate
amendments.
The selection of new office bearers followed this. Mr. V S Ramanathan a very
senior old boy presided this. Professor P. Balasundarampillai (Professor
Emeritus, University of Jaffna), Mr. S. Sunthareswaran (Manager, Hatton
National Bank Limited, Chunnakam) and Mr. M. Sritharan (Teacher, J/Jaffna
Hindu College) were selected as the President, Secretary and Treasures
respectively.
Captain N. Somasuntharam, the outgoing President Mr. V Srisakthivel, Mr. P
Balakrishnan, Prof. K. Kugabalan and Mr. R. Selvavadivel have been elected
as Vice-Presidents along with the Principal of JHC.
Dr. S. Sivapathamoorthy has been elected as the Assistant Secretary.
Eighteen members were also elected as Committee Members.
The meeting took place in a harmonious environment and all the members who
were present expressed their commitment to uphold the interest of our school
above anything else in future.
